About the community

What we do

We are researchers and students who believe open practice works better when it is shared. Everything we run is free, informal and open to anyone in Athens.

01

Workshops

Hands-on sessions on reproducibility, open data and preprints. No prior experience needed, and nobody is expected to already know the answers.

02

Connections

We bring together people across departments and institutions who care about open research, so nobody has to figure it out alone.

03

Resources

Practical guides, templates and materials that anyone can reuse, adapt and pass on, openly licensed by default.

Why it matters

Open vs. traditional practice

The case for open practice is not ideological. It is about research that other people can actually check, reuse and build on.

Open practice

  • Data and code shared by default
  • Methods reproducible by anyone
  • Credit spread across contributors

Traditional practice

  • Data kept private, on request only
  • Results hard to verify or repeat
  • Recognition concentrated narrowly

Joining OSC Athens changed how I work. I share earlier, ask for help sooner, and my research is better for it.
